The ground we walk on

A powerful and uplifting anthem to solidarity, friendship, and collective strength. Driven by the strong pulse of the bass drum (surdo) and the response of a community choir, the track celebrates the family and friendship bonds that sustain daily struggles. Using metaphors that link the structure of samba to the building of a fairer society, the song portrays a people rooted in their heritage, standing unshakable in the face of hardship.

Behind the Scenes: "O Chão que a Gente Pisa" was born as a declaration of faith in human unity and the certainty that no one walks alone. The inspiration for the composition came from the daily observation that the greatest achievements are not individual, nor are they measured in gold or silver; rather, they are found in the dignity of the next person: in the neighbor who has bread on their table and the child smiling in school. The poetic spark used the mechanics of samba itself as a perfect analogy for life in society: just as a powerful arrangement requires the cavaco, the 7-string guitar, the skin of the pandeiro, and many voices singing together, a true community can only sustain itself when its threads intertwine to strengthen the knot. It is a tribute to close friends, neighbors, and everyone who extends a hand when the daily labor gets heavy.

No one walks alone in this place of mine
(Ninguem caminha sozinho nesse meu lugar)

Those who have roots in their chest won't shake!

If one gets tired of the labor, the other extends a hand

Friendship is the foundation of this ground of mine!
(Amizade é o alicerce desse meu chão!)

(Verse 1)
Look there, my compadre, pay close attention
(Olha lá, meu compadre, preste muita atenção)

You don't make a good samba with just one note, no

Unity is the seasoning, it's the strength of the knot
(A união é o tempero, é a força do nó)

In the game of life, nobody plays alone
(No jogo da vida, ninguém joga só)

It's in the shaking of hands, in the gaze of those who know

That we build what fits inside the chest
(Que a gente constrói o que no peito cabe)

(Chorus repeats)
No one walks alone in this place of mine
(Ninguém caminha sozinho nesse meu lugar)

Those who have roots in their chest won't shake!

If one gets tired of the labor, the other extends a hand

Friendship is the foundation of this ground of mine!
(Amizade é o alicerce desse meu chão!)

(Verse 2)
Our ideal is neither gold nor silver

It's keeping alive the light that does not kill

It's seeing the neighbor with bread in their bag

It's seeing the child smiling at school
(É ver a criança sorrindo na escola)

It's the leather drums beating, the dust rising

(Spoken Interlude)
Epa, my people!
(Epa, meu povo!)

(Segura o terreiro!)

In the palm of your hand!
(Na palma da mão!)
